Crisol: Theater of Idols opens with three words: You will bleed. And by the looks of it, they mean it.
Blumhouse Games and Vermila are bringing a new first-person horror action-adventure to PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam in 2025. It’s called Crisol: Theater of Idols, and it’s set in a terrifying alternate version of Spain known as Hispania.
What makes Crisol different?
You play as Gabriel, a soldier with a strange and dangerous power, he can use his blood as a weapon. Every time you attack, it costs you. Survive long enough, and you might uncover the truth behind the disappearance of the Sun God. Fail, and you bleed out. Literally.

The island you’re exploring, Tormentosa, is as haunting as it is beautiful. Expect overgrown ruins, eerie streets, and plenty of folklore soaked in blood and religion. The deeper you go, the darker it gets.

Gameplay-wise, your blood is your main resource. It’s how you fight, and it’s also what keeps you alive. That means every decision matters. Waste too much of it in a fight, and you’ll be too weak to make it through the next one. But it’s not just about surviving, there’s also room to grow. You can find coins hidden across the island that let you upgrade your weapons and abilities, giving you a better shot at making it to the end.

The setting leans heavily into Spanish myths and religious themes, twisting them into something genuinely disturbing. You’ll be facing enemies like giant living statues, and the line between what’s real and what isn’t will blur fast.

There’s no release date just yet, but Crisol is already looking like one of those horror games that go beyond jump scares. It wants you to feel every decision, every drop of blood, every sacrifice.
